HUMD 0112 - Learning Strategies for Math and Science Courses

Prerequisite: None 1 hr lecture

This course teaches thinking and study skills specifically geared toward the learning of math and science, including problem solving skills, test taking skills, and cognitive skills. In addition, an understanding of the importance of learning styles and time management to success in math and science courses will be addressed. Students practice these skills in their textbook and homework assignments, as will as in their discussions. This course also addresses feelings and attitudes which may block math and science learning and offers strategies and techniques designed to over come these feelings. Concurrent enrollment in a math or science course is highly recommended. This course carries institutional credit but will not transfer nor be used to meet degree requirements. It cannot be used as a substitute for enrollment in developmental education courses.

Math study skills are sometimes taught in the Math 0306 courses
